Hand Building with Clay

This hand building workshop structured for children between the ages of 7 – 11 years will demonstrate and assist in building and decorating functional ceramic dishes and mugs. The pieces produced in this class will be glazed, fired and returned to each participant for their personal use.

Mining Memories - Printmaking Workshop

This workshop seeks to engage in conversations about mining memories and explore them through etching. Participants will be introduced to drypoint by expert etcher Sarah Robinson. Learn different drawing techniques to create images onto plastic drypoint plates, and experiment with inking and printing on a small 3D printed etching press sourced from THE OPEN PRESS project. The workshop includes a brief tour of the exhibition Seven Forms (Collie ’22) in the gallery.
Please bring any object or image from your association with the Collie mining industry; it could be a mining helmet, mask, lamp, coal carving, letters, or photos from the local area. Everything else that you need will be provided. No experience is required.

Print Lab Australia Workshop

After attending the Curatorial Panel Discussion hosted by exhibition curator Janice Baker in the main gallery from 10AM, participants are invited to view a demonstration of Drypoint and Chine Collé techniques presented by Print Lab Australia founders Monika Lukowska and Melanie McKee. The demonstration will also address innovative ways to incorporate water colour into the printmaking process.
Participants can explore these techniques using pre-prepared plates and materials, or are welcome to bring along their own etched or drypoint plates of A5 size maximum.
Some printmaking experience is beneficial however not compulsory.
All materials and light refreshments will be provided.
